Arabic lesson of the day

So, I learned a new word today: "Halal", which is basically the Muslim equivalent of Kosher. Specifically, it was referring to gyro meat in a restaurant we ate at for lunch. I just think it was interesting that they said "halal" and not "kosher", and I think it must really speak something of the demographics in the area. There is the only mosque I've ever seen in the U.S. (near the Ikea, of all places). In the New York area, where I'm from, they would probably say kosher, just based on that area's demographics.

Just an observation on changing trends in America. In case you were wondering, the gyro was delicious.
